Early intervention means getting involved early or as soon as possible to tackle problems emerging for children, young people and their families by providing the right support at the right time.

Hounslow Early Intervention Service (EIS) is made up of various services, such as schools support staff, children centres and youth centre staff, organised into three integrated multi professional strands. These are Support for Learning, Family Support and Targeted Services and we work together to support children, young people and families to reach their full potential and improve their life chances. Early Intervention is not about solving a single one off incident or problem that has occurred within a family, a school or other EIS setting. It is about developing the skills and resilience of both families and professionals working with children and young people; providing them with support to achieve success, resolve problems and manage potential issues arising in the future. In many cases, this is achieved by the services working together, both within the EIS and in partnership with community and partner agencies. By working in this way, we are able to develop integrated and inclusive solutions, taking into account local strengths and local needs identified by children, young people, their families and by schools.

Hounslow Early Intervention Service aims to ensure children, young people, their families and the settings or schools they attend are supported, for a time limited period, when they need it most. Our aim is to empower families to begin to meet their own needs and to enable their children to learn effectively both at home and in school or setting. Early intervention may occur at any point in a child or young person's life and the need for this can be identified by a school, a health professional, a Children's Centre or youth centre or by the family themselves.
