Schools' health and safety responsibilities are broad and range from the basic safety of the school site to specific issues relating to various areas of the curriculum; from pupils' health to concern for the welfare of staff; from safety on school visits to procedures in case of fire and other emergencies. This section focuses on the management of health and safety in schools as governed by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the various health & safety regulations that sit under it.

Hounslow Support

Schools can call upon Hounslow's designated Occupational Health & Safety Advisers for support in this very important and often misrepresented aspect of school management. There are also many guidance documents available from the Documents tab on the pages in this section, which will answer many health & safety related questions and which school staff should familiarise themselves with and refer to in order to meet their statutory obligations and resolve issues.
