Human Resources and Payroll Services for Schools

From pre-employment guidance to termination of employment and pensions, we’ll provide you with advice and support you can trust

For a comprehensive and professional HR service, get reliable advice and up-to-date expertise whenever you require it on – recruitment, employee evaluation, discipline and grievance, sickness and absence, redundancies, legal compliance, pensions and payroll.

The Corporate Health & Safety team sits within Human Resources under the council’s organisational structure. However, these services are not included within the Human Resources and Payroll Services subscriptions and must be subscribed to separately under the Corporate Health & Safety Team.

  • Strong links with other council services, such as legal and accountancy

HR and Payroll Administration

The service will:

  • place advertisements for administrative staff support for senior staff appointments
  • issue employment contracts and letters process CRB checks
  • assist with pre-employment checks, and medical clearance forms
  • update employee records
  • provide accurate salary payment
  • administrate the requirements of the Local Government and Teachers Pension schemes

HR Advisory

This service provides advice and support in complex HR matters including:

  • employee relations
  • national framework of pay and conditions for the school workforce
  • advisory support to governors for headteacher and deputy headteacher appointments
  • unlimited on site support at no extra charge from your locally based HR team

Recruitment and Retention

We provide a range of strategic measures in recruiting and retaining staff, and will:

  • maintain a license for the provision of an on-line recruitment system and placing of advertisements for primary teaching staff
  • maintain a website as a hub of recruitment for posts in Hounslow schools www.workinhounslowschools.org.uk
  • run publicity campaigns to raise the profile of the council’s maintained schools as employers of choice
  • run specific recruitment campaigns/initiatives

Conditions of Service

Provides a pooled budget to cover costs of long term sickness in schools, Jury Service, and JP cover.  For 2017 this is being offered from 1st April to 31st August 2017 only by LB Hounslow (but pending any new pooled arrangement entered into by Hounslow Schools after 1st Sep 2017)

From 1 October 2017 HR & Payroll administration Services will be provided on the Council's behalf by Liberata UK Ltd
