Performance and Projects

The Management Information Service offers expertise in data collection, analysis and publication which underpin performance monitoring in both social care and education.

The Specialist Intensive Support Service is a multi- disciplinary team offering highly skilled and specialised time limited interventions to children and young people at acute risk of becoming looked after. It also offers bespoke parenting and court assessments for children in care proceedings.

The Virtual School Service for looked after children (children in care) aims to improve educational attainment of looked after children. Lead responsibility for the attainment, attendance and achievement for all LAC at school, to support and challenge head teachers, designated teachers, school improvement partners, the Hounslow Looked after Children Education Support Service and other personnel to secure the best possible educational provision and outcomes for children and young people in the care of the council.

Provides assistance with:

  • school admissions and transfer
  • prevention of fixed term and permanent exclusions
  • improving school attendance
  • target setting, monitoring and tracking individual pupils
  • personal education plans
  • providing or procuring additional tuition
  • ensure a personalised learning approach
  • GCSE and homework revision
  • SEN
  • training for designated teachers, foster carers and social workers
  • maintain transparent and rigorous tracking systems for the Virtual school

The Corporate Parenting Panel is a committee chaired by the lead member for children’s services which overviews the effective delivery of all services to looked after children and to ensure that looked after children have a say in the design, delivery and development of services that affect their lives. The panel scrutinises the quality of health, education, housing and social care provision to looked after children.

It also supports the highly acclaimed Total Respect Training delivered by young people to foster carers, elected members, social workers, teachers and school governors.
