Placements and Leaving Care

The Placements Team is charged with locating residential, fostering and semi- independent care placements for looked after children and young people. This involves identifying and commissioning high quality providers, ensuring effective quality controls, implementing tight and robust contracting and procurement arrangements and monitoring outcomes.

The service also monitors private fostering arrangements. All foster carers are required to be approved by the Fostering Panel following a full assessment of their capacity and skills. The care they provide is monitored regularly and foster carers are provided with a range of training and support programmes.

This offer includes assistance with finance, accommodation, education, employment and training and preparation with independent living skills. The service support young people up to the age of 21 or above if they are in full time education.
