School Effectiveness

The School Effectiveness Team offers you bespoke services to support your own improvement priorities

While fulfilling the main statutory school improvement responsibilities of the Local Authority under the 2011 Education Act, the School Effectiveness Team offers you bespoke services to support your own improvement priorities.

These recognise the changing role of the LA and its relationship with schools.

  • Support from a team of experienced senior school leaders to ensure continuous improvement
  • Challenge regarding outcomes for specific pupil groups, quality of teaching and learning, inclusive practice and management
  • Professional support for leaders and Governors, teachers and support staff
  • Improved outcomes for children and young people in Hounslow’s schools

An annual visit to all schools forms part of the Core service, to consider outcomes / pupil progress and discuss priorities for the academic year. Additional free guidance and support will be given to Schools Causing Concern. Further services are available from our team or brokered, which includes quality assured consultants, advisers and trainers, as well as the core team of senior education advisers. Specific detail of support for schools, depending on OfSTED category, is set out in the School  Effectiveness Strategy.

Telephone and e-mail advice and guidance is available through contact with the nominated senior education advisers for your area or for your phase.

The 14 - 19 team offers facilitation services to the Education Improvement Partnership.

This is negotiated collectively.

In addition to commissioning and brokering support tailored to your needs, we can help your team to develop their skills in:

  • support for vulnerable groups
  • data analysis
  • leadership and management
  • curriculum development
  • closing the attainment gap for vulnerable pupils
  • changing status (eg Academy or Trust)
